5 Ways to Increase Sales at Your Bar
Everyone wants their business to be successful, and bar owners are no exceptions. If you are trying to increase your profits at your bar, there are a lot of different options that you have but not all of them will work as well as others. If you are looking for some ways to increase sales, here are 5 ways that will actually work and be very effective for your business!
1. Get Rid of What Doesn’t Sell -
If you are buying stock of beverages that don’t sell, you’re wasting your money. It’s important that you keep track of your sales at all times so you know what your customers are purchasing. By taking taking this into consideration, you can replace what doesn’t sell with the inventory that is actually in demand by your customers. This may seem like an no brainier to most owners but those that don’t take this into account are fighting an uphill battle.
2. Give Your Employees a Reason to Be Better Bartenders -
Giving your employees an incentive to work harder can go a long way in regards to bar sales. Your staff plays a very big role in how much money you make in your business and that is why many employers spend so much time on the hiring process. Your staff is a reflection on you and how well you run your bar so it’s important to show them the appreciation that they deserve. Offer your employees rewards or “bonuses” for their hard work or consider offering them “prizes” if they push a certain amount of sales.
Excite your staff by trying new things and having different contests. For example, on Saturday night, see which of your waitresses can get the most tips or which bartender can make the most drinks in an hour. It’s good to instill a little competition between your employees but be careful not to cross a line! Use your judgment and make sure the reward is not something that will cause frustration or jealousy among your employees.
3. Have Daily Specials -
Having a daily special at your bar not only raises sales but also gives people a reason to come to your bar. Whether it’s a snack, a meal or a beverage, daily specials are a great way to bring in some profit. Why do you think so many restaurants have a special every day? It doesn’t necessarily have to be a cheap deal either, it can be that you only sell a certain drink on one night of the week. Be creative with it and experiment. You might just find a golden gem!
4. Create Your Own Drink -
You may think that this sounds difficult to do, but creating your own drink can be fun and a great way to earn more money. Give your customers something that they can’t get anywhere else except for your bar and your bar only. If you create something that is good enough, your customers will surely want to keep coming back to get more of the drink that only you offer. Some savvy owners even take it so far as to have a “create a drink” contest where the patrons can actually create a new drink for the bar!
You can then promote your new drink on Social Media sites such as Facebook or Twitter to get your customers excited about it. This is a great way to generate more sales; you just have to make sure it’s something good! If your not keen on the idea of the customers creating the drink then have a contest with your employees to see who can create the best cocktail. You can offer a different employees drink every week! It’s a great way for your customers to have more variety while getting to know your employees a little better.
5. Give Less “On the House” Drinks -
By no means am I saying to never give drinks away for free. Giving drinks to customers “on the house” can build important relationships that every business needs. I am simply saying do not let this get out of control. Too many free drinks may lead to a decrease in sales and can hurt your bar in the long run.
